Batticaloa Dutch Fort
Built by the Portuguese in 1628 and later captured by the Dutch, this historic fort features four bastions and is surrounded by the Batticaloa Lagoon and a canal. It remains in good condition and houses several local administrative departments.
Batticaloa Gate
Situated within Mahatma Gandhi Park, the Batticaloa Gate is a monument that once served as a port connecting Puliyanthivu Island to the mainland. It is believed to be the landing site of Rev. William Ault, the first Methodist missionary to Batticaloa in 1814.
Kallady Bridge
Also known as the Lady Manning Bridge, this iconic structure connects Kallady to Batticaloa city. Built in 1924, it's steeped in history and legend, notably the tale of the "singing fish" heard beneath the bridge.
